On February 5th, 2015 the United Bowhunters of Missouri (UBM) equipment trailer was stolen. The trailer was insured and no one was injured during the theft, but the contents of the trailer are lost forever. While some of the contents were irreplaceable history for the organization much of what was lost is replaceable and we ask for your help.
You see, the UBM trailer contained much more than bows and arrows, targets and tents, it contained hope and inclusion. Every August for the past 13 years the UBM has provided equipment and expertise at the archery range at the Outdoor Skills Camp for the Missouri School of the Deaf. They have done the same for the Shriner's Hand Camp for the past 6 years in September equipping the kids with specialized mouth shooting tabs so that they can pull the bow string with their teeth. These activities bring a since of accomplishment and pride to kids who may have never dreamed such an opportunity would be available to them. It gives them hope and confidence to overcome the adversities they may face in life.
In addition, the organization assists with the Missouri Archery in the Schools Program (MASP) and exhibits at the Missouri Deer Classic, where they have given away thousands of hand crafted PVC bows over the years to any child who wanted one. Members help provide the materials through donations and then give their time to build the bows by hand for each child. They also offer a shooting booth for the children to try out their new prize with guidance and instruction on the spot.
And these are just a few of the great things the organization does in the community. So you see the contents of this trailer are much more than just a bunch of old bows and arrows, targets and tents. It is opportunity, pride, dreams and fun for so many who wouldn't have the experience without it. Please consider a donation of any kind to help the United Bowhunters of Missouri so that not one of these kids has to miss this opportunity.
